Also known as: Also known as: Común Farg Area of origin: Spain TREE: A very old variety that by tradition is believed to have come from the time of the Moors. Very vigorous, with a spreading shape and dense canopy. The leaves are elliptical in shape and short in length and medium in width. FRUIT: Medium in size, elongated and slightly asymmetric in shape. This variety has a high oil content of good quality but is difficult to extract. The fruit has a high removal force which hinders mechanical harvesting. AGRONOMY: It has low rooting ability but is sometimes used as rootstock for low vigor varieties. Bearing is delayed but flowering and ripening are early. Production is high but alternate. COMMENTS: Considered susceptible to olive leaf spot and Verticillium Wilt but resistant to olive knot. |
