Bouteillan
Also known as: PLANT de SALERNES, REDOUNAN Area of origin: FRANCE TREE: A tree of strong vigor with erect dense growth. Widely planted in the Var and Languedue. The leaves are elliptic-lanceolate in shape and medium in length and width. FRUIT: The fruit is generally large ovoid and slightly asymmetric in shape. Oil content is high. This fruit is used exclusively for oil and has a high oil yield. Fruit is clingstone. AGRONOMY: A hardy variety that requires light but frequent pruning and irrigation. The tree grows quickly and its productivity is high and constant. Ripening time is intermediate. Highly self-compatible, pollenators are Grossane and Cayon. COMMENTS: Good resistance to cold but sensitive to olive fly, olive scale and olive moth. It is often blended with other varieties from Provance. © 2002 Santa Cruz Olive Tree Nursery. |
